Pat Pauly - Further Down the Line

Artist Link: Pat Pauly

Pat Pauly uses bold color and unusual juxtapositions of printed and painted fabric. With undergraduate and graduate study in art and design, she utilizes her experiences in various media to focus on constructing printed textiles. Pat shows her award-winning quilts internationally as well as curates and designs exhibitions of contemporary fiber work. Pat’s lectures and workshops on contemporary textiles have a global audience. She maintains a studio in Rochester, New York.

“I want to take textiles – let’s just say fabric – to a place that pushes the art forms of construction, collage, printing to be more than one medium. I want unexpected pairings of graphics in a dialog that might be harmonious or discordant. I want to cut fabric as a painter uses a brushstroke. I’ll honor the history of quilt art, but I’ll take it further down the line.” - Pat Pauly
