Michael majored in Astrophysical Sciences at Princeton, spent six wonderful years doing graduate work in Berkeley, then returned to Princeton to work on the Sloan Digital Sky Survey as a post-doc. There he met a team of Japanese astronomers with whom he continues to do research, resulting in several excellent trips to Japan. At RIT, Michael teaches both physics and astronomy courses and runs the RIT Observatory; he acts as liason between RIT and the WIYN 0.9m telescope at Kitt Peak.
Research Interests
Optical astronomy, variable stars, supernovae, and the software required to analyze optical data.
