Erika J. Duthiers is the Deputy General Counsel in the Office of Legal Affairs and reports directly to the General Counsel. Her duties and responsibilities include assisting the General Counsel with legal matters involving and affecting RIT.
Prior to her employment with RIT, Ms. Duthiers was a Senior Associate at Nixon Peabody LLP, where she represented clients in domestic and international arbitrations, and complex commercial litigation involving contracts, intellectual property, and employment discrimination in state and federal courts. Prior to her employment with Nixon Peabody LLP, she clerked for the New York State Court of Appeals, New York State's highest court.
Ms. Duthiers holds a B.A., cum laude, from Manhattan College, and a J.D., cum laude, from Albany Law School of Union University. She is proficient in French and Creole, and is a member of Monroe County Bar Association, Rochester Black Bar Association, Greater Rochester Association for Women Attorneys, and the Appellate Practice Committee of the New York State Bar Association. In 2009, Ms. Duthiers was selected by the Democrat & Chronicle as one of Rochester's Emerging African American Leaders, and she was a 2011 Forty Under 40 honoree. She was also selected by Governor Patterson as a member of the Fourth Department Judicial Screening Committee, and serves on several community boards in Rochester.
