Future Faculty Fellowship  - A Pathway to Diversifying the Tenure-Track Faculty at RIT

The Division of Academic Affairs and the Division of Diversity and Inclusion are partnering on a program aimed at diversifying the faculty while ensuring faculty success. The program objective is to offer opportunities for departments to recruit highly qualified historically underrepresented faculty of color and women scholars, artists and researchers. Key to the program’s success are opportunities for departments to mentor and support Fellows and evaluate their trajectory of teaching and scholarly excellence, better equipping Fellows to meet the university’s tenure expectations. Because long-term success of faculty is the ultimate objective, the RIT Future Faculty Fellowship program is structured to support a 2-year post-terminal degree fellowship position. Key stakeholders with this program include departments and colleges, the university, and the Fellows.

The Provost works collaboratively with the Deans, Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion and the Office of Faculty Diversity and Recruitment to determine the disciplines for which post-terminal degree fellowships will be made available. Departments should work through their Deans if a potential Fellow has been identified.
