Psychology Assessment: Improving Instruments and Closing the Loop
The purpose of the grant was to develop and improve assessment instruments for RIT’s three Psychology programs. The grant funded two department retreats that focused on two goals:
- designing specific program assessment tools (rubrics and a graduate exit interview)
- analyzing three years of assessment data
The results were used to strengthen teaching, assessment, and curriculum across the Psychology programs. In addition, the department focused on building faculty understanding and commitment to the program assessment process. Faculty discussions provided extensive input to revise and streamline the assessment plans, develop and refine assessment tools, and advance program goals.
Faculty will implement the new assessment plans in fall semester 2013 and continue to meet monthly to discuss best practices, teaching, and mentoring, and to follow up on new ideas generated at the retreats.
