2026 Dates for Let Freedom Ring and Expressions of King’s Legacy!
Let Freedom Ring
Join your friends and colleagues for the 9th annual Let Freedom Ring program on Monday, January 19, 2026. The program is from 10:30am to 11:30 am in Ingle Auditorium. A reception will follow in Fireside Lounge. Let Freedom Ring honors the life of Nobel Peace Prize winner and civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Our keynote speaker will be Associate Professor Nickesia Gordon in the School of Communication, College of Liberal Arts at RIT. Gordon’s research focuses on communication and gender, race and nationality as well as communication for social change. She earned her BA at the University of the West Indies (Jamaica); her MA from Clark University and her Ph.D. from Howard University. Her talk will focus on how love is a key component of Dr. King’s philosophy of freedom and non-violence.
Expressions of King’s Legacy
Dr. Eddie Glaude, Jr., scholar, political commentator and author of the New York Times bestseller Begin Again: James Baldwin’s America and Its Urgent Lessons for our Own, will deliver the keynote address at RIT’s 44thannual Expressions of King’s Legacy program on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 12-2pm in the Gordon Field House. Glaude is the James S. McDonnell Distinguished University Professor and the former Chair of the Department of African American Studies at Princeton University. He frequently appears in the media, as a columnist for TIME Magazine and as an MSNBC contributor on cable news programs.
