Hispanic/Latine Heritage Month Kickoff
First, join us Monday, September 14th from 2 - 4 PM for our Hispanic/Latine Heritage Month Kickoff. A fiesta at Global Village Plaza will celebrate history and culture, find connection and community, and enjoy Latino snacks, music, and activities. Featuring a loud and proud drag performance from Rochester's own Little Mx Bunny as well as RIT's Tango Club.
Into the ROC: Community Dinner
Friday, September 18
4:30 - 7:30 PM | PRISM (COC 2050) and Carmen’s Cooking (offsite transportation provided)
Community is created and supported in many ways, including in our local grocery stores! Join the Division of Access, Engagement, and Success and the Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement for an Into the ROC Community Dinner!
This program will start in PRISM (CPC 2050) with a screening of 2 episodes of the PBS program, "The Grocery List Show". These episodes focus on small Latine and Afro-Caribbean grocery stores and the roles they play in supporting culture and community. From there, we'll head to Carmen's Cooking in Brighton, NY, for dinner with 2 local store owners and to learn about their experiences operating specialty stores and how their work uplifts Afro-Caribbean and Latine culture. **Dinner will be served buffet-style with gluten-free and vegan options

How do you navigate a major or industry when you don’t see many people who look like you? Join MOSAIC Center and the Society for Hispanic Professional Engineers for a panel discussion featuring RIT Latino faculty, staff, and students as they share their personal journeys through STEM. Panelists will discuss the realities of representation, practical strategies for finding and becoming a mentor, and how leaning into cultural identity and community serves as a vital source of strength and resilience. Whether you are seeking advice, connection, or simply better understanding, join us as part of Hispanic/Latine Heritage Month. Time will be allotted for audience Q&A and brief networking.

Fuel your afternoon and celebrate Hispanic/Latine Heritage Month with a deep dive into Latin American coffee traditions! Join International Student Services and MOSAIC Center s for a look into the rich culture and history behind this delicious brew, followed by a conversation with two staff members from IBERO American Action League's El Camino Café. They'll share the story behind the café, what goes into their work, and how El Camino brings authentic Latin flavor to the community. We'll wrap up the afternoon by seeing how well you know coffee with a blind taste test!
