Matthew Leibowitz (1918–1974), was a successful American graphic designer who worked in advertising and magazine design. His suite of color-field Geoma and Spectra paintings were done for his own personal expression. They are indicative of the modernist art movement where abstraction was simplified into colored planes and geometric shapes. Today, his paintings on view on the 2nd floor of RIT Libraries. His archive is part of the Cary Graphic Design Archive.
