Science and Liberal Arts
The Department of Sciences and Liberal Arts (SLA) houses all General Education courses that serve other majors within RIT Dubai. SLA courses span a wide range of disciplines, including but not limited to Anthropology, Communications, Economics, English, Foreign Language, History, Mathematics, Performing Arts, Philosophy, Psychology, and Science. These courses satisfy certain undergraduate program requirements and they also allow students the opportunity to expand their knowledge in other fields of interest beyond their major. Thanks to these many course offerings, the SLA Department is able to offer students the possibility of obtaining various immersions or minors within the above-mentioned disciplines.
The SLA Department also boasts new state-of-the-art Biology, Chemistry, and Physics labs. These labs allow for hands-on and experiential learning where students are able to experience science in action.
Such labs provide students with the necessary fundamentals of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics in a way that enhances their knowledge of their specific field of study. Students also gain knowledge on scientific protocol, relevant safety precautions in a laboratory setting, and experience in conducting experiments, obtaining and analyzing results, reporting findings, and generating comprehensive lab reports.
To graduate, students need to complete all the requirements as listed in the curriculum. Click here for the graduation policy.
