Cui et al. publish in Nature Communications

Feng Cui, professor in the Thomas H. Gosnell School of Life Sciences, published “Intrinsic DNA codes govern distinct modes of nucleosome-transcription factor interactions” in Nature Communications with bioinformatics alumni Christopher Carson '26; Julia Freewoman '17; Sheethal Umesh Nagalakshmi '21; and Joseph Pizzi '26; and computer science students Prakyat Prakash and Image Adhikari. The paper discussed the discovery of four distinct DNA sequence patterns in nucleosomes that shape how transcription factors interact with chromatin, revealing previously hidden DNA-encoded rules governing nucleosome positioning and gene regulation.
