International Symposium on Aviation Psychology Logo

The International Symposium on Aviation Psychology (ISAP) has been organized for 21 times, biennially over the past 40 years. The tradition will continue with the 22nd ISAP, to be held at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in Rochester, NY, USA, May 31-June 3, 2023, with in-person attendance.

Our format will be in-person plenary and lecture sessions, the traditional practitioners’ and researchers’ panels, and poster sessions. We will do our best to make much of the symposium hybrid, to allow for online participation to help those who may not be able to travel to attend.

ISAP was first convened by Richard Jensen at the Ohio State University in 1981. ISAP is a venue for research on human performance within aviation systems, and for design solutions tailored to human capabilities and constraints. It meets for the purposes of:

  • Presenting the latest research on human performance problems and opportunities within aviation systems;
  • Envisioning design solutions that best utilize human capabilities for creating safe and efficient aviation systems;
  • Bringing together scientists, research sponsors, and operators in an effort to bridge the gap between research and application.

Who Should Attend

Although the symposium is aerospace oriented, we welcome anyone with basic or applied interests in any domain to the extent that generalizations from or to the aviation domain are relevant.
