Metaproject 04

In the fall of 2013, student designers, in partnership with award-winning, century old furniture manufacturer Herman Miller, tackled the challenges associated with building and enhancing relationships in the workplace.

Focusing on the Living Office vision and Herman Miller’s recent history, students debated the evolution of work and the current definition of a “relationship”, and test how furnishings and space empower and enable interactions that extend beyond a simple point of connection. An emphasis was placed on the following three relationship archetypes: person-to-person, digitally-mediated, and those that exist between people and their tools. Results of the collaboration were exhibited at Design Week in New York City in May, 2014.
