Join us for a presentation from a Rochester Based Biotechnology Start-up, Casana!
Casana, led by a team of RIT alumni, creates technology that enables healthcare management in the home. Casana's vision is to empower the world's caregivers with access to reliable, consistent vital signs to improve and extend the lives of those we love. The Heart Seat, Casana's first product, is in the shape of a standard toilet seat that has been designed to measure a variety of health parameters in the home. The seat has several sensors embedded inside, including an electrocardiogram (ECG) to measure heart rhythms, an optical sensor to measure blood oxygen levels, and sensors that measure the mechanical forces associated with the heart beating and pumping blood. The Heart Seat requires no user behavior change, and measures several health parameters (including blood pressure) upon a person sitting on the seat with bare skin contact.

Join us to hear from Casana's Clinical Study Coordinator on how this technology works, how it could be used to manage hypertension, and how you could get involved in their research journey!
