One-Session Class: Creative Philanthropy: How to Support Your Favorite Causes Without Writing a Check

  Monday, May 22, 2017 11:15 AM - Monday, May 22, 2017 12:45 PM
 Classroom #3/4

Presented by Kate Spencer and guest speaker Hal Burrall. After an introduction by Kate, Osher Treasurer, Hal, Senior Director of Planned Giving at RIT, will present information on various philanthropic strategies that may surprise you. We will explore the possibilities provided when these strategies are coupled with savvy estate planning - allowing individuals to provide for loved ones and benefit from real tax savings...all the while being able to support meaningful charities now and/or into the future. It's a win-win! While Hal will use RIT as examples, he will not pressure members to contribute to RIT/Osher. After the presentation members may set up a confidential, individual appointment with Hal if they wish. Background: As part of our new capacity-building grant (runs from Nov. 2016 - December 2017) we received from the Bernard Osher Foundation, we are charged to broaden our fundraising plan as well as increase dollars raised. Planned giving is an essential part of our new fundraising endeavor.
