One-Session Class: Discussion of the 2018 Nobel Prize in Physics

This lecture will discuss the principal scientific achievements for which the 2018 Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded. Since lasers are central to this award, a short introduction to lasers for the layman will be included. An overview of what these discoveries have made possible will be presented.
PRESENTER: Wolf Seka is a native of Austria with a Ph.D. in physics (UT Austin, 1965). He worked in various laser-related fields in several countries (now retired after 41 years at the UR Laser Lab).
