Presented by Roger Gans. The Cambrian geologic period began 540 million years ago; the Shroud of Turin dates from the 13th century. We know this from applied nuclear physics: how radioactive elements decay. I will explain how that works in some detail. Roger Gans was formally educated in geology and then became an engineering professor. He has long been interested in the history and application of scientific ideas.
