Major Agneta Murnan, 

NJ Air National Guard  

Major Agneta E. Murnan is the Director of Inspections for the 177th Fighter Wing in the New Jersey Air National Guard. In this role, she maintains oversight of the Wing's regulatory compliance through a comprehensivei nspections program. Prior to this assignment, she was 177th Force Support Squadron Commander. In this role, she was responsible for approximately 180 personnel across the Wing's Personnel, Services and Training functions.

Major Murnan has experience spanning across the commercial sector, active-duty Air Force, the Air Force Reserve, and federal civil service. She started her career as a legal assistant at the Baylor County Attorney's office in Texas and an account correspondent at Blue Cross Blue Shield while volunteering extensively with the Legal Aid of Northwest Texas in Wichita Falls. Major Murnan received her commission through Officer Training School, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, and graduated from the Defense Information School, Fort Meade, Maryland in 2007.

 Major Murnan was assigned to the 71st Flying Training Wing at Vance Air Force Base, Enid, Oklahoma, where she led internal and external communication as Chief of Public Affairs during a 15-day installation-wide labor strike. She was then assigned as Chief of Public Affairs to the 31st Fighter Wing at Aviano Air Base, Italy, where she led international press engagements for no-fly zone operations over Libya and 10-nation Balkan disaster-relief training. Major Murnan then deployed to serve a year with the NATO-Air Training Command in Afghanistan as primary advisor to the newly established Afghan Air Force Public Affairs Directorate. Upon her return to Aviano Air Base, Major Murnan joined the US Air Force Reserves and was selected to serve within the US Air Forces in Europe & Air Forces Africa Public Affairs Executive Issues office, where she supported command restructuring and strategic communication planning.

Following assignment to the Public Affairs Plans office of U.S. Forces Korea/ CombinedForces Command/United Nations Command, Major Murnan led global press coverage of historic Alliance accomplishments and prepared senior leaders for contingencies and crisis communication on the Korean peninsula. Major Murnan returned to the US to serve in the Secretary of the Air Force and Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Public Affairs offices.
