Presented by Director of Refugee, Immigration and Language Services at the Catholic Family Center (CFC), Jim Morris and President & CEO of the CFC, Marlene Bessette With over 60 million displaced persons across the globe, the world is faced with the greatest refugee crisis since World War II. This presentation will include an overview of the US response to this crisis and how the Rochester community itself provides safe haven to the 800 refugees that resettle here each year. The presenters will focus particularly on how refugees are screened for admission to the US, how they are assigned for resettlement to Rochester, how the resettlement process unfolds locally and the challenges faced by refugees as they integrate in our community. The presentation will also include the implications for refugee resettlement under the incoming administration of the President-elect.
