The Politics of Indifference: What Can America Learn from the Past?
Presented by Michael Dobkowski, John Milton Potter Endowed Chair in the Humanities and Professor of Religious Studies, Hobart & William Smith College
America has been there before--an indifferent witness to the terrors of the Holocaust and the trauma, rage, and depression that follows. Lack of action by the US government concerning the admission of refugees from Nazi Germany and Nazi-controlled territories of Central Europe and anti-immigrant sentiments in the US brought disaster to the world. Dr. Dobkowski is a scholar of the American Jewish experience, Holocaust Studies, religion and violence, Jewish thought, and anti-Semitism.
