Dr. Schwarz's laboratory focuses on inflammatory bone loss (such as that seenin rheumatoid arthritis), infections, tumor metastasis, and wear debris-inducedosteolysis around loose prosthetic implants. His lab is also interested indeveloping translational in vivo imaging outcome measures that include nearinfrared imaging of lymphatic flow to detect arthritic flare and cone beam CTto assess bone health.
