PFAUDLER: What Should We Know About China?

Presented by Nevan Fisher, Ph.D., Associate Professor of History, Nazareth College What do we really know about China? What's actually behind the Great Wall? For the May 21 Pfaudler, Dr. Nevan Fisher, associate professor of history at Nazareth College, in his presentation, What We Should Know about China, will attempt to debunk the myth of China as an all powerful and overwhelming entity in the early 21st Century. While it does acknowledge the country's impressive achievements, the presentation examines all those internal forces and dynamics that are at work to serve as fracture points for state control and social harmony. Issues like environmental degradation, ethnic and religious tensions, political disunity and many others will be considered.
