The Pulitzer Prize is an award for achievements in newspaper, magazine and online journalism, literature, and musical composition in the United States, and is considered the most prestigious award in journalism.
RIT Photojournalism alumni have photographed, recorded or produced for winning and finalist entries, either as individuals or as part of a group, in several different journalism categories, including Breaking News Photography, Spot News Photography, Feature Photography, Explanatory Reporting and Local Reporting.

The Associated Press"For a collection of photographs from multiple U.S. cities that cohesively captures the country's response to the death of George Floyd." - Pulitzer Board
Two of Vucci's photographs from demonstrations in Washington D.C. were part of the AP photo team's entry.

Explanatory Reporting
The Washington Post"For a groundbreaking series that showed with scientific clarity the dire effects of extreme temperatures on the planet." - Pulitzer Board
Coleman was one of three photo editors to work on the entire project. Three of her packages were part of the group of 10 submissions that constituted the winning entry.

Evan Vucci ’00, a chief photographer for the Associated Press in Washington, D.C., helped the AP photography staff win the Pulitzer Prize in breaking news photography for a collection of photographs from multiple U.S. cities that cohesively captures the country’s response to the police killing of George Floyd.
