Grammy Award Winner to Headline RIT Gospel Fest Feb. 4

Rochester Institute of Technology’s Center for Campus Life has teamed up with the RIT Gospel Ensemble and the Office for Diversity and Inclusion to host Gospel Fest 2011, 8 p.m. Feb. 4 in Clark Gymnasium.

This year’s concert features a performance by gospel legend Smokie Norful, whose music and message is widely known throughout the gospel community. Norful won a Grammy Award for his 2004 release Nothing Without You.

The Gospel Ensemble and Kevin McDonald, RIT’s chief diversity officer, will be the opening acts. Founded in 1981, the ensemble is a student-run organization comprised of students, faculty, staff, and community members. The group is known for singing black spirituals, interdenominational anthems and hymns, and modern-day gospel songs.
