Hundreds expected at RIT hockey watch party

Fans packed the Gene Polisseni Center on March 23 when the RIT Tigers captured the Atlantic Hockey Championship.

The Gene Polisseni Center opens to fans this Thursday to watch the RIT men's hockey team take to the ice in the NCAA Hockey Tournament.

The game will be broadcast on the two large screens inside the arena, with Gate 1 opening at 4 p.m. and the face off at 5 p.m.

Admission is free and no ticket is required. Seating will be limited to the venue's capacity.

The Tigers Team Store will be open, and the concession stands and bars also will be open for fans to purchase food and drinks. Standard hockey game security protocol will be in place upon arrival, and no backpacks will be allowed in the venue.

RIT joins the  NCAA Tournament field of 16 teams vying for the national crown. The Tigers face off against the Terriers in the regional, which is being hosted in Sioux Falls, S.D. The game will be televised on ESPNU and ESPN+. Additionally, WITR will broadcast the game from Sioux Falls.
