Tarrant Clements: The Shape Of Space is an exhibition spanning 50 years of exploration in printmaking and sculpture. For over five decades, Clements has explored countless printmaking techniques, never quite settling into one. Clements is searching for something deeper inside rather than focusing on the transient happenings of daily life. Her work is an exploration of color and form, a deeply personal way to understand how space is shaped. Clements dives into a world all her own, her compositions hint at a search for something deeper, a relationship between form, color, and space. Clements' ultimate message is an inspiring one; keep creating, if only for your own satisfaction, make art for the sake of making art.

Tarrant Clements received her MFA from RIT's School for American Craftsmen in 1968. She studied with ceramist Frans Wildenhain and credits his example for her love of learning. During her years as a student, the original Shop One, located on Troup Street in downtown Rochester, was part of her social life; she often visited the shop to view the latest works on display and was immensely pleased when the shop later carried her own work.
This exhibition surveys her over 50-year career as a printmaker, and will also feature a collection of her sculptural assemblages. Clements is an active member of the Rochester Print Club, and has practiced and taught art in Rochester, NY for many years, including at Nazareth College and at the Rochester City School District. She has exhibited widely, having shown work at the Buffalo AKG Art Museum, RIT University Gallery, and Shop One. Her work is featured in the collections of the Elmhurst Art Museum, Elmhurst, IL, The Summit at Brighton, and Rochester's Memorial Art Gallery.
