The Museum Association of New York talks to Tabitha Jacques, director of NTID's Dyer Arts Center, about how museums can accommodate people with disabilities as part of their reopening strategies.

The Biberaj Foundation Inc. announced a new academic scholarship, in the amount of $1,160,000, for 40 students to study to obtain a bachelor’s degree at RIT Kosovo/American University in Kosovo Foundation. Preference will be given to students interested in science, technology, engineering, math, and journalism concentrations.

The roles of some of the country’s leading Black Deaf artists will be discussed in a Zoom webinar on Saturday, July 25, sponsored by the Dyer Arts Center at NTID. The virtual panel discussion, “Respeck Our Black Deaf Arts,” will explore Black Deaf artists’ roles in the arts, what inspires them to create in response to the #BlackLivesMatter movement, and the national conversation about race, the future of the Black Deaf arts, and more.

RIT’s MAGIC Center and Vicarious Visions (VV), a game studio well-known for some of the industry’s most iconic franchises, have signed a partnership agreement that will include new collaborations and scholarship opportunities for students in RIT's Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences and College of Art and Design.

In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, RIT’s Division of Diversity and Inclusion wanted to create a way for faculty and staff to connect with people from different backgrounds despite the limitations that come with physical distancing. In April, they launched the “What’s Your Diversity” program, a weekly storytelling and dialogue hour held via Zoom that allowed RIT faculty and staff to share how diversity impacts their lives.

RIT is one of America’s top universities according QS Quacquarelli Symonds, a global higher education research company and publisher of the QS World University Rankings. Universities are ranked according their research performance and career outcomes as well as a range of indicators assessing each institution’s social impact and attempts to foster equitability.

More than 20 RIT students have been seated for senators and representative student organization positions in Student Government for the 2020-2021 academic year.

Donathan Brown, assistant provost and assistant vice president for faculty diversity and recruitment, is one of 13 scholars nationwide selected to serve in the latest cohort of the Fulbright Scholar Alumni Ambassadors program. Brown will serve a two-year stint in the program designed to increase the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program’s visibility nationwide and expand the diversity of future participants.
