Why did you choose the Executive MBA program?

I chose RIT's EMBA program for several reasons:

1) I completed my undergrad at RIT and the reputation of the school is stellar.

2) I knew I wanted an off campus/distance learning program, but also a program with a personal touch. The Zoom application allowed me to participate in live classes no matter where I was, and being assigned to a team promoted a wider sense of ownership and being a part of something bigger than yourself.

3) From the initial contact with RIT through the application process, compared to my experiences with other schools I was considering, was night and day. RIT provided one point of contact that guided me through the process and was the most professional experience versus other schools I was considering of the same caliber.

How has your education helped your career?

The program opened up my world in ways I didn't expect. It provided me with a greater understanding of how business gets done in today's economy on both a micro and macro level. I was able to see my own business from other perspectives that allowed for a whole new level of problem solving, uncovering opportunities, as well as sharpening my leadership abilities. My value continued to increase as I went through the program.

What is your best piece of advice?

The program is tough, but anything worth achieving usually is. You will have to make sacrifices (ie; your social life, family time). The key is understanding that it's less than 18 months, and the days are long but the months really do fly by and the only way through it is through it.

If you had to do it all over again, would you?

Without a doubt... I absolutely would do it all over again. The entire experience was invaluable, and completing it creates what almost feels like an exclusive club because of the connection of having gone through the program.
