Why did you choose the Executive MBA program?

At the time I was local to Rochester and looking for an on-campus MBA program. RIT was the best fit with an executive program that allowed me the flexibility I needed (weekends) to maintain a busy work schedule. The focus on management and entrepreneurship really interested me but ultimately it was my attendance in an executive leadership program that sealed my fate with RIT. You couldn’t have asked for a more experienced and collegial faculty.  It is hands down a world class program.

How has your education helped your career?

Soon after completing the program I was offered the opportunity to interview for a role in which they were only hiring MBA’s. The RIT MBA degree got me in the door, and the experience I gained during the program propelled my growth in the organization.

The classroom provided a platform to share experience from both the faculty and fellow classmates and that combination greatly enhanced the learning experience. Combining real life scenarios with the classroom curriculum allowed me to immediately implement what I learned in practical application.

What has been the biggest takeaway from your experience?

If you don’t have time management skills before the program, you will afterward. The curriculum is tough and full of important content and you have to juggle that with your already busy work schedule. At the end of the program you will be more efficient and will be equipped to effectively manage time and prioritize workload.

What is your best piece of advice?

Surround yourself with a strong team of people. The team collaboration during the program solidified the importance and efficiencies of having a strong team. You have the ability to make faster, more effective decisions when you have more educated team members on a project. To this day, my team building continues to drive my professional growth.

If you had to do it all over again, would you?

Absolutely!  Sign me up.
