Why did you choose the Executive MBA program?

I chose this program because I wanted to be able to apply what I was learning immediately into my job. RIT's program focuses much more on the application of the various MBA topics as opposed to simply the theory where many other programs place their focus. I also liked the shortened timeframe of the program as compared to many other multi-year programs.

How has your education helped your career?

I have been able to apply nearly everything that I learned throughout the program in my job. From some of the finance principles to leadership practices to negotiation skills, all of it has helped me become a better leader within my company, and it has directly contributed to my advancement within the business.

What has been the biggest takeaway from your experience?

A major lesson for me was the importance of allowing others to help throughout the experience. This program is very intense, and it quickly became obvious that I could not complete it on my own. Whether it was trusting my EMBA teammates to handle certain aspects of a project, asking my co-workers to weight in with aspects of my job, or accepting help from my family with things going on in my personal life, I could not have gotten through the program without allowing others in and working together.

What is your best piece of advice?

Enjoy the process. This program is intense and you are going to feel overwhelmed at times. But try to focus on and enjoy learning from your professors and cohorts throughout the program. You will learn valuable lessons that will get you through this and will make lasting impact in your work life and personal life – it really is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

If you had to do it all over again, would you?

Yes! It is amazing to me how much I learned in a relatively short time frame. The Executive MBA is unlike any other degree program and it has prepared me for my future far better than any other program I have been a part of. The connections I made with my cohort is something I am very appreciative of as a result of this program.
