Bio

Qiang (John) Tu is a Professor of Management Information Systems in the Saunders College of Business of Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). He teaches at both the graduate and undergraduate levels., , Dr. Tu is winner of the prestigious Elwood S. Buffa Doctoral Dissertation Competition award sponsored by the national Decision Sciences Institute and Irwin/McGraw-Hill. Author of many published journal articles and conference papers and presentations, Dr. Tu's research focuses on information systems and operations management strategy, technology management, and behavioral issues in information systems and operations management. He has published extensively in prestigious journals such as Information Systems Research, Journal of Operations Management, Journal of Management Information Systems, Decision Sciences, Communications of the ACM, Journal of Information Technology Management, OMEGA: the International Journal of Management Science, Information Resources Management Journal, Journal of Strategic Information Systems and the Computers and Industrial Engineering Journal., , Dr. Tu received his Ph.D. degree from the College of Business Administration in the University of Toledo in 1999. He earned an M.S. in Systems Engineering and a B.S. in Management Science from Jiatong University, China. He had several years of business experience in China, where he helped establish high tech joint ventures before starting his doctoral studies in the U.S.

This course discusses issues associated with data capture, organization, storage, extraction, and modeling for planned and ad hoc reporting. Enables student to model data by developing conceptual and semantic data models. Techniques taught for managing the design and development of large database systems including logical data models, concurrent processing, data distributions, database administration, data warehousing, data cleansing, and data mining.
