Before entering high school and the PLTW curriculum, I already had my mind set on an engineering major for college. Through my participation in five PLTW classes, I narrowed my interest of study and became truly prepared for my engineering future at RIT. I was able to master fundamental skills that I now use in my lectures and labs. I also earned several RIT credits through PLTW which gave me a great advantage when I entered college. I’m thankful for all the skills that PLTW prepared me with for my RIT experience!
Electrical Engineering Technology Major
My experience in PLTW equipped me with an understanding of general engineering principles and ultimately prompted my higher education in electrical engineering. The program increased my college readiness and has proven to be handy for my current coursework at RIT. I am pleased to have been a part of PLTW!
Packaging Science Major
During high school, I was able to participate in the Introduction to Engineering Design PLTW course. In the class, I learned skills related to sketching, brainstorming, modeling, and design. After being exposed to these more technical and engineering-based skills, I decided that I wanted to pursue a major that included these along with more science-based aspects. Through PLTW, I was exposed to many different potential STEM careers and was also first introduced to RIT. I now major in Packaging Science at RIT and am happy to have participated in a PLTW class!
Biomedical Engineering Major
I participated in PLTW from freshman year to senior year in high school. Through my five engineering-focused PLTW classes, I found my passion for engineering and ultimately decided on my major because of my PLTW experience. My high school experience greatly aided in managing my college course load by exposing me to many concepts and skills that I now use at RIT. I’m so glad to have participated in the PLTW curriculum and have found my place at RIT!
