    The SHED marks its Imagine RIT debut April 27

    The SHED, touted as the new heartbeat of campus, makes its Imagine RIT debut this year. This multi-use facility embodies RIT's blend of technology, the arts, and design, offering a vibrant hub for creativity, interdisciplinary learning, and innovative performances year-round.

    RIT’s K-12 University Center at the ‘heart of the community’

    The K-12 University Center's move off campus and into downtown Rochester was made to expand room for more work within the facility as the department develops additional partnerships and programs. It was previously housed at a modular unit adjacent to Brown Hall that has since been demolished to make space for a new science research center.

    RIT Tiger comes home

    The RIT Tiger returned to the Quarter Mile on Aug. 11, following a three-year sabbatical on the edge of Fountain Park along the path to Global Village. A temporary perch near Hugh L. Carey Hall kept the tiger safe and accessible during the construction of the SHED.

    Tiffany Brodner assumes new role as executive director of the SHED

    Tiffany Brodner was named RIT’s inaugural executive director of the Student Hall for Exploration and Development (SHED), following a national search. She assumed her new position in April. She will work closely with Michael Buffalin IV, who was appointed director of RIT’s makerspace within the SHED.

    Building the SHED: A Q&A with RIT registrar Joe Loffredo

    The Student Hall for Exploration and Development (SHED) and the renovated Wallace Library will reopen in less than a year. Work has begun to schedule the fall semester classes that will be held for the first time in the SHED complex, and Joe Loffredo, RIT associate vice president for Academic Affairs and registrar, is leading the effort to assign the classrooms in Wallace Library.

    Simulated SHED classroom previews new learning space

    Walking into the extra-large classrooms in the Student Hall for Exploration and Development (the SHED) will be a new experience for students and faculty alike when the multi-use complex opens its doors in fall 2023. Faculty can preview the new learning environment during the 2022-2023 academic year by teaching in a large-capacity learning space designed to simulate the new active learning spaces in the SHED.
