    Proposals wanted for Scotland’s Mechanics Institute virtual conference

    A celebration honoring the 200th anniversary of the founding of the first Mechanics Institute in Edinburgh, Scotland, will include a virtual conference this fall. RIT Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Ellen Granberg serves on the international advisory committee for Mechanics’ Institutes Worldwide 2021, and is encouraging RIT faculty to submit paper proposals.

    RIT’s COVID-19 Alert Level has returned to Green, meaning the prevalence of the virus in our community and on campus is low.     RIT Dubai’s state-of-the-art new campus in the Dubai Silicon Oasis is now operational

    RIT Dubai completed phase one of construction on its state-of-the-art new campus and began officially operating out of the new location in the Dubai Silicon Oasis earlier this semester. The new campus was built with an overarching theme of interactive learning and spans 129,000 square meters with collaborative teaching and research spaces designed to accommodate up to 4,000 students.

    RIT sees more than 4,100 students graduate

    Commencement ceremonies for more than 4,100 RIT students begin today and continue through Sunday, enabling graduating students to don their regalia, walk across a stage, and be acknowledged by administrators for their milestone achievements despite a global pandemic.

    Ph.D. students take different career paths

    More than 50 students are expected to earn their Ph.D. degrees by the end of June. The hooding ceremony, which will also include Ph.D. recipients in the class of 2020, is May 15.

    RIT announces summer session course offerings

    Registration is open for RIT’s four summer sessions, where more than 350 courses in over 90 disciplines will be offered. Undergraduate and graduate students can take advantage of two five-week sessions and a 10-week session. Graduate students can also enroll in a targeted seven-week session.

    Kamille Davis may have followed her brothers to RIT, but she is a leader in her own right. As the third in her family to graduate from the mechanical engineering technology program, Davis set her own pace early—excelling in classes, on the basketball court, in the laboratory, and in the community.
