CTL Studio

Studio time is scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. To request studio time or schedule an initial consultation/tour, submit a request via the CTL Consultation Request Form or contact ctl@rit.edu.

The studio features professional HD camera setups, studio lighting, lapel microphones, a Lightboard system, a Teleprompter, and live slide/computer integration for seamless presentations (BYOC).

You can bring your presentation on a USB flash drive or email your files to CTL staff producers ahead of time. If using live computer integration, plan to bring your own laptop. Sharing your files ahead of time with the CTL team ensures a smoother recording session, especially if planning to use the teleprompter.

Turnaround times vary depending on video length and post-production complexity (e.g., simple trimming vs. adding custom graphics or captions). Standard instructional videos are generally delivered within 5 to 10 business days, depending on complexity. Staff will deliver the completed files either directly to you, or upload them directly to your Panopto account.

Accessibility is a core priority at RIT. CTL provides guidance and support for integrating automated and reviewed closed captions through RIT's supported video management platform (Panopto). If you plan to deliver your videos through Panopto, CTL staff will handle the captioning process for you.

Don't worry! Studio sessions are low-pressure. You can simply pause, take a breath, and repeat the sentence or section. The CTL editing team will remove takes, long pauses, or stumbles during post-production.

The studio is optimized for recording asynchronous course content. Live video and streaming support are not offered at this time.

CTL Studio is not equipped to support a self-service model. Staff are available to run the equipment, as well as provide editing and post-production work.
