Intramurals

Our intramural program has a diverse and extensive selection of over 17 sports with over 220 teams participating every semester.

If you’re interested in playing your favorite sport, trying out a new activity, or just want to make friends with similar interests, check out intramurals! Intramurals are all about participation, interaction, staying active, and most importantly – having fun. Intramural activities are organized for friendly, fun competition.

Intramurals are a safe and welcoming environment for all members of the RIT community, regardless of gender identity, gender expression, race, religion, actual or perceived disabilities, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, or culture, including Deaf culture.

Join a League

Any current RIT student, faculty, or staff can join or form a team. All intramural participants must register to join a league at recreation.rit.edu.

Registration closes automatically when a league is full. If a league is closed, you and your team can register on the waiting list. Teams are notified by the Intramural Office only if/when space becomes available. All leagues have a playoff bracket to determine a league champion at the end of the intramurals season.

League Levels

There are three different levels of intramural leagues to choose from. Check out the list below to help determine which league level is right for you:

Beginner
The least competitive option, you will see a wide range of ability levels in Beginner. Advanced and Intermediate-level players should not register for this league.

(Example: You want to try a new activity for the first time and have some fun!)

Intermediate
A less-competitive option, Intermediate teams may have Advanced and/or Beginner-level players on their roster.

(Example: You are familiar with the activity and tried it a couple times, but you wouldn’t consider yourself an experienced player. You’re still looking to have some fun and compete a bit!)

Advanced
Our most competitive option, we recommend that players with previous experience at a competitive level (high school, club, former varsity) register for this league. An Advanced team’s roster should have a majority of Advanced-level players.

(Example: You have quite a bit of previous experience with this activity and you’re ready for a little competition.)

Policies and Expectations

All participants must show valid RIT ID at the scorer’s table when checking in for a game. A University ID number may not be given in place of having a valid RIT ID. NO ID, NO PLAY, NO EXCEPTIONS.

Team captains are responsible for maintaining accurate rosters on FusionIM. If a player’s name does not appear on the printed or electronic roster at game time, he or she cannot play. Playing on more than one team in the same league will result in suspension.

No, games only. Leagues play once per week only on the night you sign up for. For example: if you sign up for Thursday 6pm-11pm Outdoor Soccer, your games will be once per week on Thursday’s between 6pm and 11pm.

Leagues typically run 8 weeks for regular season with 2 weeks for playoffs.

While participation is completely optional, please be aware that if your team does not have enough players to participate, this will count as a forfeit for that game and the opposing team may not be able to find an opponent in time to play that week. Please reach out to intramurals@rit.edu as soon as possible if your team will not be able to attend an upcoming game.

All leagues on campus are free to play. If we utilize an off-campus facility (for example our golf league) there may be a cost associated.

Registration is always the first two weeks of fall or spring semester. Again, participants can register on Recreation.rit.edu!
