Innovative Healthcare Design
A multidisciplinary contingent of faculty and students from Rochester Institute of Technology, along with a number of industry partners, are delivering life-saving, innovative healthcare design solutions with the RIT Hope for Honduras initiative.
Led by Mary Golden, associate professor and director of RIT's interior design program, the project is helping to reduce infant mortality in Honduras by providing medical care to critically ill newborns in remote regions of the country. The interdisciplinary team designed and custom built a mobile neonatal transport ambulance capable of navigating mountainous areas of Honduras to transport patients to Hospital Escuela — the largest public hospital in the capital city of Tegucigalpa.
RIT partners include Global Medical Response, Cruz Roja Hondureña, Hospital Escuela and Little Angels of Honduras.
RIT Hope for Honduras was also featured on an episode of Intersections: The RIT Podcast.
