RIT Global

Seeking to understand the cultural norms and values in society are key components to social science research. In this program, you will have the opportunity to explore a city outside of the U.S. and employ methodological approaches learned throughout the course, Research Methods and Decolonizing Approaches. While studying abroad in the UAE, you will visit Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah and immerse yourself into the diverse culture of this newly developed urban Middle Eastern society. You will have the opportunity to explore research questions related to culture, ethnicity, gender, religious belief or non-belief, and social class while participating in daily social and cultural excursion trips.

The application deadline for the spring/spring break 2022 program has been reached. To inquire about next year's program, contact the faculty directors, Dr. Makini Beck (mzbind@rit.edu) or Phillippa Thiuri (pthiuri@saunders.rit.edu).
