Students have a unique opportunity to study at RIT exchange partner Technical University of Applied Sciences (THWS) Würzburg-Schweinfurt in Würzburg, Germany.

Study in one of the most fascinating regions in Germany at the center of Europe and experience a compelling blend of culture and history. With more than 9,300 students, the Technical University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt is one of the largest universities of applied sciences in Bavaria. As an exchange student, you will receive excellent support from the international team at THWS both before and after your arrival. An international student welcome orientationbefore the start of each semester to help students find their bearings at the university and in Germany. Cultural training, events, and excursions are also offered throughout the semester.

THWS is located in Würzburg is situated in one of the most beautiful regions of Germany. Franconia, in the northern part of the federal state of Bavaria, offers excellent recreational possibilities for culture and dining; it is one of the sunniest spots in Germany, thus it is renowned for its wine-growing. Due to their geographic location, Wurzburg is an ideal starting point to explore Germany and Europe.

With a population of almost 130,000, Würzburg is among the biggest cities in Bavaria. The city is characterized by its many students and a mild climate. You can enjoy life in one of city’s countless cafés or at one of the cultural events at theatres or museums. The Würzburg Residence is one of the most significant palaces in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Students can choose to take courses in civil engineering, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering and supplement with additional courses in the arts and humanities, business and English. Applicants should discuss with their academic advisor how credits will count towards their degree program.

Program Cost: Student budget worksheet (AY 2023-24) - outlines all program costs. Students can take a copy of the budget worksheet to a meeting with RIT financial aid to determine how their aid may apply towards program costs.
