Dr. Bonvillian will address a common misconception: the mistake outsiders commonly make, thinking of the Chinese people in simplistic terms. However, seasoned investors, with international experience, understand the complexity of China. Dr. Gary Bonvillian '74, MS '81 currently serves as Senior Director of International Programs and Research for the Lotus Education Group in Xiamen, China since 2016. Previously, Dr. Bonvillian was president of Thomas University, an independent, co-educational, liberal-arts-based university located in Thomasville, Georgia. The university operated three of only four government approved foreign programs of nursing in the People's Republic of China as well as baccalaureate in business. China enrollment reached approximately 1,200.

Dr. Bonvillian has researched, taught, published and consulted on the subjects of leadership, management, international business, total quality, organizational development and leading change.
