Dimple Joseph

Abbott
Lead Operational Excellence Engineer

'18 Industrial Engineering, M.E. Engineering Management

A firm believer in STEM education, Dimple Joseph has been immersed in it since she was a child, from spending time with her mother who was a teacher to attending STEM camps during her summer breaks.

Her passion for science, technology, engineering and math only grew as she got older, which led her to attend and graduate from Rochester Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering and master’s degree in Engineering Management.

During college, Dimple joined Abbott as an intern. After graduation, she joined the team full time and diligently worked her way up to her current position – Lead Operational Excellence Engineer. Being process- and behavior-oriented, Dimple’s work allowed her to be flexible and contribute to multiple areas, most recently as part of the BinaxNOW team, Abbott’s COVID-19 Ag Rapid Test. She continues her journey at Abbott working with the Diabetes Care business unit to expand their Continuous Glucose Monitor portfolio, FreeStyle Libre.

Dimple is passionate about fostering an environment of continuous improvement and digital inclusion. She stays professionally active by advocating for STEM education, and has mentored others as a Big Sister in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. She’s a member of the Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers, and works to leverage her Lean Six Sigma and Shingo knowledge to positively impact her workplace culture. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and listening to audiobooks and podcasts, and loves to travel. In 2022, she was awarded the Emerging Leader Award by Kate Gleason College of Engineering at Rochester Institute of Technology.
