Bone Replication Testing

Side-by-side photos of RIT students and activities with the text See How RIT is Advancing the Exceptional underneath.

This exhibit will showcase the work that we have done to test 3D printed bones. This project is a continuation of P20061: Creating Bone Replicas for Surgical Planning. The previous project determined a list of viable materials to use as a base for 3D printed bone samples. The customer of this project is Will Byron, representing MedDimensions LLC. The objective of this project is to take the 3D printed bone samples and determine a test protocol that will determine if the 3D printed bones accurately simulate the tactile sensation of real bone based on comparing outputted data. It is also a goal to create a test fixture that can provide a reproducible method for testing other 3D printed bones.
