Custom Torque Sensor and Transmitter for Automotive AC Compressor

Side-by-side photos of RIT students and activities with the text See How RIT is Advancing the Exceptional underneath.

For KGCOE MSD, we developed a system designed to measure real-time torque from an automotive AC compressor. The system includes a custom PCB loaded with code for an on-board Bluetooth 5.2 MCU, along with a fluid-resistant housing to contain and provide wireless power to the PCB. Our implementation pushes the boundaries of design capabilities by meeting the customer’s dimensional requirements of a 55mm diameter and a 35mm height, and it demonstrates complete success of all the client’s needs.
