Inclusivity Retractable Game Net

Side-by-side photos of RIT students and activities with the text See How RIT is Advancing the Exceptional underneath.

Inclusivity Fitness provides equipment to help people with special needs experience the joy of playing sports. The goal of this project was to design a retractable game net for Inclusivity that can easily be set up on standard traffic cones, which are common equipment in school gym classes. The cone toppers attach securely to cones of various sizes and the net can be quickly set up at any length up to 12 feet. The net can be set up at different heights, lengths, and even with multiple nets connected together to allow for use in many different types of sports. After use, the net retracts back into the topper using a handle or spring retraction mechanism for easy storage and portability. We will be submitting a video showing our design and build process as well as the final prototype.
