Orthotic Weight Bearing Monitor

Side-by-side photos of RIT students and activities with the text See How RIT is Advancing the Exceptional underneath.

This orthotic device senses, calculates, and reports the percentage of a person's body weight applied in a step. It is intended for use by individuals progressively returning to full weight bearing status using crutches or a walker following an orthopedic surgery of a lower limb. The apparatus communicates wirelessly with a custom app to return feedback in multiple ways, and it is adjustable to fit a wide range of users.
