Ross Berntson is President and Chief Operating Officer for Indium Corporation, a premier materials manufacturer and supplier to the global electronics, semiconductor, thin-film, and thermal management markets. He is responsible for Indium Corporation’s global sales, marketing, technical support, operations, engineering, human resources, and product R&D functions.

Ross joined Indium Corporation in 1996 as a product specialist. He quickly rose to the roles of product manager, marketing leader, sales leader, and tech support leader. Most recently, he has served as Executive Vice President and President of Indium Corporation’s Asia Holdings. Ross lived in Singapore for two years, learning much about the daily activities in Southeast Asia and China. While there, he expanded his understanding of the regional business needs and opportunities.

Ross has been instrumental in forging new marketing strategies that have contributed to significant increases in sales for Indium Corporation’s product lines. He has also been instrumental in developing new marketing opportunities that have provided expanded opportunities for the company’s full line of solder products.

Ross is an active member of numerous industry organizations, including the IPC, iNEMI, International Microelectronics Assembly and Packaging Society, and the Surface Mount Technology Association. He has published several technical papers and articles, and presented at technical conferences globally. He has a master’s degree in business administration (2002), a master’s of arts degree in teaching (1994) and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry (1993) from Cornell University. At Cornell University he earned the Henny Wittink Memorial Marketing Prize and the George Caldwell Award.

When not working, Ross holds the title of husband, father, and avid fly fisherman. Ross, his wife, Julie, and two children – Sarah and Nate, can be found most weekends running around the woods as a family with their dog, Buttercup.

Ross is also an accomplished triathlete and has competed in several regional sprint triathlons, as well as numerous road races. Most recently, Ross completed the 2017 New York City Marathon in 3:46:30. 

He is also active in several community boards including: BSA Leatherstocking Council Executive Board; United Way Mohawk Valley Board; Manufactures of Central New York Board and am Hope Alliance Church Trustee. Previously, I served on the board of an EMS company that completed a successful exit and was Chapter Chair and Education Chair for the NEUS Regional Integrated Chapter.
