WHAM Lifestyle Expert Liz Bonis Named Honorary Chairperson of Puttin’ on the RITz Fundraiser
Annual event scheduled for March 28 at Oak Hill Country Club
Liz Bonis, health and lifestyle reporter from TV and radio will be honorary chairperson for the 24th annual Puttin’ on the RITz dinner sponsored by Rochester Institute of Technology’s School of Hospitality and Service Management. This year’s annual fundraiser, Savoring Health: A Culinary Tour of Flavors, is being held at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, at Oak Hill Country Club.
“It’s really an honor to serve as the honorary chairperson of this event,” says Bonis. “The outstanding staff, educational experience and top-notch training provided by the nutrition management/dietetics program at RIT really sets you up for a lifetime of success. I’m looking forward to sharing some of those experiences as part of the team Puttin’ on the Ritz.”
A graduate of RIT’s School of Hospitality and Service Management, Bonis hosts the talk show Lighten Up with Liz on nutrition, exercise and health. She can be seen and heard locally on WHAM radio and television stations.
Each year, students in the School of Hospitality and Service Management plan the annual fundraising event that has grown from 60 participants in its first year to more than 300 over the past few years. Students plan the entire event, from theme to menu, from entertainment to dining service.
“Students on the executive board are working together to plan everything from entertainment for the evening to our fantastic seven-course menu prepared by our executive chef, Rachelle Danno,” says Elizabeth Lincoln, a student in the School of Hospitality and Service Management as well as a member of the planning team. “The RITz planning committee has been preparing this year’s event since December. For me the best part about planning this event is being involved with a great group of people, such as our executive board, and hopefully creating a night to remember not only for our guests but also something the RIT community can be proud of.”
Tickets for the RITz dinner are $100 person and can be ordered online at www.rit.edu/cast/ritz Donors can also purchase a commemorative plate in recognition of the event for $50. All proceeds go toward the School of Hospitality and Service Management Education Fund for scholarships, equipment and conference travel.
