SD-CoMETS Scholars - Anna Kochaver

My name is Anna Kochaver and I’m a Civil Engineering Tech student at RIT! I chose to be a part of the CVET program because I want to work in the environmental field working on sustainability, resource management and accessibility, and restoration projects. Civil Engineering was a way to combine my love for the outdoors while still being able enjoy the math and science of a STEM degree. I grew up in Boise, Idaho and love to do anything that gets me outside and in the mountains. I ski raced as well as competitive rock climb, and also enjoy mountain biking, trail running, surfing, and backpacking. SD CoMets has helped me because it gave me the opportunity to be a part of RIT’s community and enjoy everything that college has to offer.

I am a first year student in Electrical Mechanical Engineering Technologies. I chose this major because I enjoy creating things with my hands and I want a well-rounded knowledge of everything that engineers work with in both the electrical and mechanical fields. One of the things that led me down this path is my experience as a lighting designer/director for all of my high school's events. I worked on many plays and musicals and spent hours planning and coding the lights for each scene. This made me realize the invigorating feeling I got from making things that were my own.
