Writing Tools for Graduate Students

This workshop first explores what counts as academic writing, then presents 15 tools and tips to help you as a graduate student writer develop productive practices to sustain you through your graduate program and beyond. You’ll be asked to try out many of these tools during the workshop, but no advance preparation is required.
Speaker: Mary Jane Curry, Ph.D., Associate Professor at the Warner Graduate School of Education & Human Development, University of Rochester
Since 2003, Mary Jane Curry has taught courses in language education, literacy, research writing, and academic publishing. Her doctoral seminars have focused on critical literacy, language and literacy across cultures, and language, literacy, and globalization. Curry is the founding director of the Warner School’s Writing Support Services at the University of Rochester.
In-person attendees will receive a copy of M.J. Curry’s book A-W of academic literacy: Key concepts and practices for graduate students. Classes are encouraged to attend. In-person attendance is limited to 50 people, with unlimited availability for Zoom attendance. Registration is required.
This is a hybrid event and in-person seating is limited to 50. The presentation will be recorded and closed captioned.
