Designing a Functional CPU Architecture

Location

Gordon Field House and Activities Center (GOR/024) - Main Floor

We are designing the mind of a computer, otherwise known as a CPU. This is responsible for any major processing the computer requires to function, such as mathematical operations and other number-based processes. Normally, processor designers follow a regimented architecture, that is, the arrangement of physical components of the processor to meet some standard of capability or to follow a given specification. We have taken it upon ourselves to build ours from the ground up, allowing for ease of construction with no frills about what must and mustn't be done. Our plan is to design this processor with physical components, and in software. The goal of this is to make its functionality more visual for onlookers and to show tangibility for seemingly high-order concepts. This will then be demonstrated with an application that the device will run to print text to a screen and interact with buttons and other such devices.
