Don’t Run With Scissors
Don’t Run With Scissors is a full-body experiential game that utilizes an alternative controller: a 6-foot-long pair of giant scissors that opens, closes, and twists in your hands. The game invites you into the mind of a curious kid left home alone with only one instruction: don’t do the things you know you shouldn’t. Naturally, this becomes your to-do list. With your oversized scissors, immerse yourself in this runner-style game to race the clock to slice through everyday objects, rack up points, and leave a trail of destruction on your way up the leaderboard. Created by students in New Media Design and New Media Interactive Development, the game mixes playful chaos with bold visuals and a hands-on controller that feels as fun as it looks. The team recently exhibited at the International Games Festival’s alt.ctrl.GDC exhibit as a Finalist, showcasing this alternative controller that creates a full-body game experience and creates a playful sense of unwieldy danger that simply can’t be replicated with buttons or joysticks. We are excited to showcase our game and its recent developments since GDC!
